In many cases deep scratches can be improved significantly with our specialised repair process, without replacing the floor. Whether a repair is realistic depends on the depth of the scratch, the wear layer, the timber and the finish — which is why we ask for photos before saying either way.
Often yes. Moisture sitting under a pot plant can leave dark staining or discolouration in the timber. We’ve repaired this type of damage using our specialised repair technique rather than replacing the surrounding floor. The result depends on how deeply the moisture has affected the timber.
Localised water marks and staining can sometimes be repaired. It depends on how far the moisture has penetrated, whether the boards have swollen or lifted, and how long the moisture was present. We assess this from photos and, where needed, on site.
That’s one of the most common situations we deal with. Most homeowners don’t keep the original flooring box. Our repair approach is designed around exactly this problem, so a missing spare board doesn’t automatically mean the whole floor needs replacing.

Sometimes a timber species and construction type can be identified from photos and on-site inspection, but an exact product match years after installation often can’t be confirmed. We’ll tell you what we can and can’t determine.
Not always. Your installed floor has been exposed to sunlight and UV for years, while a spare board stored in a cupboard or garage hasn’t. Even a genuine spare board can look noticeably different once it’s placed in the middle of the existing floor.
Timber changes colour naturally over time with light and UV exposure. The installed floor has aged; the stored board has not. That difference in ageing is why a spare board can stick out like a sore thumb.
In some situations individual boards can be addressed, but it depends on the installation method, access, availability of suitable replacement material and whether an acceptable colour match is achievable. We assess this before recommending it.
Areas that have aged differently — under rugs, furniture or objects — can sometimes be improved. How closely the areas can be brought together depends on the timber, the finish and the extent of the difference.
